A Little About Us...

In 1994, a very special Pyrenean Mountain Dog came into our lives...

Little did we know that, Sebastian, an 8-week old puppy would set in motion a life-long love affair with this noble breed.

Euzkadi kennels have operated in South Australia for over 17 years and are dedicated to the ethical, controlled breeding of quality Pyrenean Mountain Dogs.

Our kennel name, Euzkadi (pronounced Oos-kar-dee), roughly translates to 'Basque Homeland'. The Basque people, like the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, have called the Pyrenees Mountains on the borders of France and Spain their home for centuries. This area is where the Pyrenean Mountain Dog originated as a livestock guardian for the Basque shepherds on steep mountain slopes.

Today, the Pyrenean Mountain Dog (also known as the Great Pyrenees in the USA) has taken on a more contemporary role as guardian and protector of their family and home.
